No one would ever accuse me of being a patient man, and I’ve been this way most of my life. I get antsy in meetings, I dislike standing in a line, and unfortunately, I sometimes drive like my butt is on fire. Recently I’ve had cause to reflect on my life and how lucky I am to have this life!

I live in one of the loveliest areas in the country (in my humble opinion). My home is about 4 miles off a main highway that winds through a gorge and around beautiful farmland, woods, and rolling hills. Those last 4 miles of my drive is on a country road with twists and turns, ups and downs, and gorgeous scenery. I have traveled this road for more than 25 years and I have realized that I have taken some of its charm for granted – because all I am thinking about is getting home! If someone is in front of me driving the speed limit I start thinking “What’s wrong with them? Don’t they have a wife and kids to get home to? Aren’t they hungry?”

When it comes to getting your new business submissions in to Tuscano you also want to be in the fast lane and not have any traffic jams! I know our internal systems have been a pain point and we are taking steps to rectify backlogs and delays in the clearance and logging in of new applications. One thing that will definitely allow your new business submission to get to your underwriter without delay is to send your commercial accounts to submissions@tuscano.com and personal lines accounts to plsubmissions@tuscano.com.

Now I realize that you may have already called a Tuscano underwriter to discuss an account, so obviously you will want the application to go to that individual. In that case, simply add their email address to the CC line and you’ll accomplish both requirements. We also understand that you may have a working relationship with a specific underwriter and we want to support that; please still use our submissions email address with a CC to your underwriter and it will be directed to them to work on after we clear the account and log it into our system. Finally, if you really don’t know who should be working on the application, just send it to submissions@tuscano.com and we’ll assign the account to a Tuscano underwriter that handles that class of business.

Speaking of things that go fast, I have to say our transportation and trucking team are not only fast and responsive, but they are growing fast too! If you haven’t been sending them your commercial auto business you should definitely give them a try. They are seeing success with both owner-operators and fleets. While their ability to write non-fleet/for-hire trucking business is limited to risks garaged in PA, MD, NY, NJ, CT, and VA, they can still help you with fleets in most states and we are pushing for more authority all the time.

Knowing what I do about the importance of a driver’s experience and behaviors when underwriting truck business, I feel a little guilty about my personal driving habits. I think it is time for me to shift over to the slow lane for a bit to see what I can see!

Have A Happy Day!
