New York Surplus Lines Affidavits

Bulletin – Tuesday, December 1, 2015

The latest bulletin from the Excess Lines Association of New York (ELANY) reiterates that only a properly licensed individual may sign a New York surplus lines affidavit. For the producing broker, that means the person involved in the sale, solicitation or negotiation process should be the signatory on the Affidavit Part C. In New York State, this requires a Broker license. While there are many functions in an Agency that do not require an individual to be licensed, signing the surplus lines affidavit is not one of them! For more information please read the recently posted ELANY Bulletin No. 2015-23
