News & Views: Coasting

I was a decent runner in high school. By my senior year, I was the best half-miler on the team, mainly because I worked at it. The half-mile distance was an awful race; basically, it was a sprint twice around the track. I didn't make this a lifelong passion, though, so my track career and the discipline of running pretty much ended at graduation. Remember, this was well before running became fashionable and all the cute girls were running around town in their Lululemon attire. And so it is kind of funny that last summer I found myself committing to run a half-marathon. So far I haven't pulled up lame, so it looks like I may have to start training in earnest!

Through this process, I've discovered a few things about myself:

  1. I did not just graduate from high school yesterday
  2. Rising to the occasion works from time to time, but will never change the direction I'm headed
  3. I've been coasting and allowing momentum to carry me along

And with that, I've decided to shift my journey to better health into a higher gear.

It's March! So spring is definitely closer (but maybe not imminent). What is certain is that trade contractors will be getting back to work soon, so it may help to brush up on your marketing. Tuscano definitely has great options for all types of contractors - from landscapers to environmental. Many of our carriers have become much less restrictive about naming additional insureds and granting waiver of subrogation coverage. With some markets, we even have options to provide blanket additional insureds, blanket primary & non-contributory, blanket waivers of subrogation, blanket per project aggregates, and blanket additional insureds for products and completed operations. Nothing is worse than writing a piece of business with a wholesaler, only to find out they are not very helpful after the fact, when your customer needs these coverages. So whether you are writing the one-man sub-contractor or the general contractor running three crews, give us a shot at writing your business.

RBT stands for more than Robert B. Tuscano, you know. Restaurants, Bars & Taverns is a class of business Tuscano knows and loves to write. We've got superior markets and are at our best when we can work with you on a tougher case. There is abundant competition in this class of business, and carriers are doing crazy things to get your client in the door. But, when you have an account that can't get through that door, that's when you should call the hospitality specialists at Tuscano! We often write the package including liquor, but if it's a risk we need to break up in order to get it written or to be competitive, the underwriters on the Property & Package team can help you.

Coasting is not an option here at Tuscano. We are deliberate and intentional and always striving to do a better job for you. If you are ready to work with a wholesaler that cares about writing your business, just give us a call!
