News & Views: Snow or Daffodils

Newsletter – Thursday, March 16, 2017

This morning I was checking in with my mid-state New York staff, commiserating about the amount of snow Storm Stella dumped on them. I found myself thinking about things that don't 'belong'; that is, like blizzards in March! It's interesting that exactly 10 years ago, one of the 'Hot' topics in the Tuscano newsletter was Global Warming (before it was called climate change). Since I have something to say about everything, I had to throw in my 2 cents about Al Gore's 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth.

As a child raised by parents who grew up in the Great Depression, I have to confess I was imprinted to take care of and value the possessions I've been blessed with. Nothing is wasted, little is disposed of, and what you have, you take good care of. These truths are no less relevant to our care for the environment. We have only one earth; there are no replacement parts.

Something else I was talking about ten years ago was customer service! In 2007 I was writing to you about how helpful our staff is and sharing the message that we really are here to help you solve your insurance problems. For about one hot minute I thought to myself, "Self, you could just ditch writing the newsletter this month and recycle this old one." No one but my editor would have known, but she doesn't let me get away with anything!

In ten years the message from the Tuscano Agency hasn't changed! We've learned a lot about how to deliver exceptional customer service and do it with professionalism. I'm not claiming we are perfect but I challenge you to engage anyone at the Tuscano Agency. You will find yourself working with a staff member who will do whatever they can to meet and exceed your expectations.

Even though a decade has gone by, over 75% of our commercial underwriting staff is still working with us. Hopefully, they will tell you it is because they love it here at the Tuscano Agency! Another interesting statistic is that we have nearly 50% more staff in our underwriting departments than we did in 2007. That's because we know how important it is that people are available to answer the phone, be responsive, and turn your submissions into quotes quickly. Tuscano doesn't outsource - we hire and train good people and we would be nothing without them. The bottom line is that for ten years, the Tuscano Agency's message has been consistent and clear - it's our people that give great service!

Markets have changed, insurance has changed, but we are still writing much of the same business we did ten years ago - only better. We can help you place a difficult property account, a difficult liability exposure, a difficult personal lines customer or a difficult professional service. Your time and resources are too valuable to waste spinning your wheels with another brokerage market. Save energy! Give Tuscano a call for all of your brokerage business.

Well, this has certainly been a rambling letter. Hopefully, by the next time I write we'll have daffodils and sunshine.

March on!
