News & Views: The Hunt

Unlike many of my friends and peers, I am not a hunter at heart. I will dabble in it because after all, I live and work in a vibrant recreational area where outdoor activities abound - skiing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and of course, hunting.
 
When I was young, I would go bird hunting with my dad. Back then (in the olden days) the birds were native and wild; and the dog, an English Spaniel, was thoroughly untrained. Our hunts consisted of me, my dad and sometimes my grandfather (who was a true gentleman hunter). We’d walk through the high brush while our dog was a quarter mile ahead of us chasing the birds away; those are great memories!
 
Last week, I added to those memories when I went bird hunting with a group of buddies. In this case, we were on a regulated grounds with a guide and a ‘professional’ bird dog. None of us could claim to be experts. In fact, many birds will live to tell some stupid hunter jokes! However, if you don’t pull the trigger you’ll never get the bird. Which reminds me of a golf-related Rob-ism - 100% of the putts that are short don’t go in the cup. The bottom line of course is - don’t just show up – Go for it! Just going through the motions never produces success.
 
Those of us in the insurance industry get this. No one is going to make good things happen for us, we have to make our own magic. All of the good people here at Tuscano know this! Consequently, we are ready to pull the trigger and sink the putt! Yup, we got this!
