Associate Brokerage Underwriter Position Description

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Service all aspects of existing business:
- Process new business binders originated by new business underwriters.
- Obtain, review, and act on loss control inspections. Coordinate inspection requirements with Underwriters and company guidelines.
- Review, evaluate and process mid-term endorsements.
- Organize, review and service policy correspondence on active and expired policies.
- Work all assigned renewals and remarket when appropriate, effectively, and independently of WNT underwriter.
- Aid and/or direct service requests from brokers or carriers as needed.
- Develop strong long-term relationships with our customers and carriers.
- Communicate risk appetite to customers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with the brokers and the carriers, effectively and independently of WNT underwriter.
- Understand and explain more complex insurance principles and fundamentals.
- This position is considered an exempt position.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Competencies & Qualifications:
Skills are acquired through experience and training.
- Three to five years Insurance experience is required.
- Build strong relationships with markets and retail producers.
- Collaborate with team members and build positive working relationships.
- Utilize a sales mentality to promote the business.
- Demonstrate the skill set of a self-starter. Encompassing a growth mindset.
- Possess a knowledge of markets utilized by Tuscano.
- Effectively apply guidelines from Company Underwriting Manuals.
- Understand classification of risks and the factors used to determine rates.
- Ability to prioritize work in an effective manner.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, networking and relationship ability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Remain flexible under the pressure of a heavy workload and critical deadlines.
- Demonstrate a conscientious and focused mentality on working for the good of the team and organization.
- Excellent customer service skills that align with our customer service expectations.
- Exhibit proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Location & Travel:
Tuscano is located in Greensburg PA, approximately 35 miles SE of Pittsburgh. This candidate should live in Greensburg/Pittsburgh, PA or surrounding areas. Hybrid opportunities are available. This candidate will need to be comfortable traveling around the Pittsburgh vicinity to visit agents and attend networking events. Some overnight travel may be required.
Required Licenses:
- Hold a current Property & Casualty Producer License.
