News & Views: Just Another Detour

Newsletter – Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Teri and I were heading to the airport last week for a 7AM flight. Which isn't too bad unless you live 75 miles from the airport! On the bright side, driving through the city of Pittsburgh at 5AM means we shouldn't hit any traffic - unless there is overnight construction, which seems to be a perpetual state of being for the Steel City. So yes, we hit a closed section of the Parkway and had to detour through downtown. What I expected to be a huge disruption turned out to be... well, just a detour.

And isn't that just like life - we long for smooth sailing and straight shots but more often we get road closures, traffic, and detours. I came to the realization long ago that disruption is the norm and not the exception, and how we handle the bumps, twists and redirection speaks volumes about ourselves.

Disruption is 50% not knowing what to expect and 50% not feeling in control. I can imagine that writing brokerage business often feels like a disruption for you. One way Tuscano tries to make a difference is by being the source for nearly all your brokerage needs. We have dedicated, expert underwriting and support teams with a focus on markets and products you typically need. Whether you need professional liability, liquor liability, dwelling fire, commercial auto or workers comp, any detour that brings you our way is one that we can make worthwhile!

Our travel was taking us to North Carolina shortly after Hurricane Matthew. An unfortunate twist brought Hurricane Matthew inland over the southern coast of North Carolina causing lost lives and property. I am hopeful that the good people of North Carolina will receive the necessary aid and resources they need to start rebuilding their lives. We managed to miss the storm altogether. But our thoughts and prayers are with those who will be recovering for many months.

Tuscano's ability to write personal and commercial property up and down the east coast and into the Midwest is constantly improving. We have spent much of this year expanding our binding authority capacity. We've been specializing in vacant business for over 25 years. We can write just about anything vacant, be it on the market, in an estate, or undergoing renovations. You can easily get a quote online for vacant dwellings, vacant commercial property, and even vacant land. You should definitely give the new and improved Tuscano vacant rater a try. This is just what you've been looking for to smooth out those bumps on the road to writing vacant property business!

Don't forget to call us for all your brokerage needs. Everyone here at Tuscano is focused on providing you with great insurance solutions. The market has been a little nutsy lately, but we still love to write your business.

I wasn't sure whether it would be appropriate for me to make an appeal for a good cause but what the heck. There have to be some perks to writing this newsletter so here goes. Josh is a member of our IT team and has always had a heart for the people of Haiti. Well before Hurricane Matthew struck, Josh had committed to run across Haiti with Team Tassy. He is running to show that Haiti is not a place to be feared nor to be pitied. He is raising funds to support work to end poverty through good, dignified jobs. Team Tassy already has people on the ground in Haiti working with relief efforts. Check out the website and if you are inspired, join us in supporting Josh to help ease the suffering of the people of Haiti whose lives have been disrupted yet again.

Thanks again for indulging me and my passions!
