On Friday, August 9th, we kicked off our annual Tuscano Summit. Once a year, we invite all our associates to join us for a fun weekend filled with good food, entertaining activities, and time spent with friends. The Summit is an opportunity to celebrate our successes. We expect a lot of our people, and they work hard to provide an exceptional experience for our customers. What they do makes a difference, and I look forward to the Summit every year for the chance to remind them of that and show our appreciation.

If you ask a Tuscano employee to describe our culture, you’ll hear words like team, encouraging, helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. I always say that we have the best team in the industry because they all pull in the same direction, have each other’s backs, and care about one another. I believe this differentiates Tuscano from a crowded field of competitors, and I’ve heard feedback from many of you that bears that out. 

These characteristics are on full display when we get the group together. Not only do we work well as a team, we really enjoy each other’s company! It’s been a great pleasure to see the friendships that people have formed over the years. After spending most of their waking hours together at the office, many people enjoy hanging out together on the weekends. Heck, some of them even go on vacation together!

We closed the office last Friday at noon to gather everyone at the Rivers Casino for the party. I apologize if we were unavailable to you during that time, but I hope you understand how important it is to show our appreciation to our team. Their hard work and dedication know no bounds and deserve to be celebrated! Tuscano Summer Hours (close Fridays at 3 pm) conclude on August 30th, and we will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd. 

Personal Lines has been one of the fastest growing segments in our industry. There’s been a lot of disruption caused by standard carriers restricting their appetite or pulling out altogether, and that’s caused a lot of that business to flow to the excess & surplus lines market. Recently, I heard of a national carrier that is no longer offering personal lines coverage in PA and another that will no longer write a single product line without another supporting line of coverage (Homeowners plus Auto, for example).
