Can you believe that it’s November already? It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year, and now it’s fall and we’re getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving! I suppose the old adage “time flies when you’re having fun” is true, because we’ve been having a ton of fun crafting creative insurance solutions for you and your clients, and this year is going quick!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Besides the fact that I love to eat, I really appreciate the fact that this is a holiday that is centered around showing gratitude. While the first US Thanksgiving celebrated a successful fall harvest and the continued health of 17th-century American pilgrims, it has evolved into a celebration of gratitude for family and friends, which I love!

I have a lot to be thankful for, and I’m a big believer in practicing gratitude. It’s scientifically proven that expressing gratitude is associated with a number of benefits to your physical and mental health, from improved sleep and mood to a decrease in depression and anxiety and a strengthened immune system. 

The thing I’m most grateful for is my family. I’m thankful for the generations that came before me, for showing me what’s possible and for instilling values of hard work and integrity. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to raise my own family and instill those same values in the next generation. At the end of a life well lived, no one will remember how much money you made or how many material things you were able to acquire, but they will remember the time that they were able to spend with you, and that those interactions improved their life in some way. 

I’m also thankful for the ladies and gentlemen that I have the pleasure of working alongside here at the agency. This team of insurance professionals is our greatest asset, and I couldn’t be prouder of them. They believe in the mission and vision of the Tuscano Agency, and they show up every day ready to make a difference.

Finally, I’m grateful to all of you, our customers, who choose to place their trust in Tuscano. We take that responsibility very seriously, and it motivates us to give our very best, so thank you!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the other important holiday that’s celebrated in November, Veteran’s Day. To all the veterans, thank you for your sacrifice for this country. I’m forever grateful for your service and for protecting our country. 

I’ve got some good news to report from our specialty brokerage team. Recently, Jeremy and Linda were tasked with the responsibility of forming a separate brokerage team to highlight the fact that we have the markets and expertise to entertain your larger middle-market brokerage business, and that business is growing! We recently hired an Associate Underwriter to help free up more of Jeremy and Linda’s time, so look for them to be banging on your door even more in the coming months.

Christmas will be here soon, and what better time to promote our Transportation Team? How do you think Santa gets all the raw materials for the elves to build the toys in his workshop? Trucking companies, that’s how! My grandfather worked as a long-haul truck driver, so when he started the agency, he had a unique understanding of the exposures inherent to that industry and felt he could do a better job underwriting those exposures. Commercial auto has always been a line of business that is near and dear to our hearts, and the marketing team has some fun campaigns planned for November to highlight our capabilities in that space.

I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday season. Please note that our office will be closed on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th to celebrate Thanksgiving.
